State of the Dis-Union?

Donald Trump will be getting his State of the Union Speech after all, after Nancy Pelosi threatened him with the removal of that possibility during the longest ever government shutdown. Many are wondering what exactly Mr. Trump could be planning to address at the speech, and whether or not he will continue to pursue his harsh rhetoric on immigration, which was the primary cause for gridlock during the shutdown where he refused to sign spending bills without a $5.7 billion dollar allocation for a "southern border wall." .

Although there is some hope that perhaps the President has come to his senses about the issue, and is willing to compromise and work with the new Democratic majority in the House, the likelihood of that is doubtful, as there are also speculations that he will declare a National Emergency tonight to bypass Congress for his funds. This will certainly die a slow death in the court system, ultimately costing the government a fortune and accomplishing nothing.

Meanwhile, in preparation for his soapbox chat, the President had been tweeting nonsensical figures about immigration that he has been watching on far right television during his "Executive Time". One such example is detailed in this article, where the Washington Post reports on his bizarre and downright false tweets.

“We are not even into February and the cost of illegal immigration so far this year is $18,959,495,168. Cost Friday was $603,331,392. There are at least 25,772,342 illegal aliens, not the 11,000,000 that have been reported for years, in our Country. So ridiculous! DHS”

President Donald J. Trump, Jan. 27 2019

Mr. President has received these figures not from the Department of Homeland Security as he claims, but from One America News Network, a far right news platform, whom themselves exaggerated data from FAIR, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a right leaning organization whose data is widely disputed and claimed to be methodically fallacious by CIS, otherwise known as the Center for Immigration Studies.

This is an example of a person with access to quite possibly the most accurate, up to date, and detailed information on any variety of subjects, including immigration, on the entire planet, who is watching television to Tweet false statistics he sees to an audience of 325,000,000 Americans, and billions of individuals across the globe.

I want off Mr. Bones Wild Ride, but the ride never ends.
