Immigration in Quebec (Meanwhile at the other border.....)

In August of 2017, a temporary housing centre was arranged in Montreal Quebec. This housing centre was made in an Olympic stadium, and had approximately 1050 beds for refugees. People who were looking for asylum, were crowded outside in hope for a place to stay temporarily, and in hope for a better more secure life.

Some of the main reasons why immigrants wanted to move from their home countries to America, is to escape violence, poverty, and percussion, so that they could ensure that their family would grow up in safety, and have more opportunity than their home countries ever could have offered. However, as of recent, not only has it been getting harder and harder for immigrants to enter America, immigrants who are already living in America face the threat of  deportation to  their home country. In order to avoid this outcome, immigrants saw that their last hope was to move to Canada to continue living a safe life without violence, without having to worry about being forced to leave.

Many of the immigrants who traveled to Quebec were from Haiti. This was because many people in Haiti speak French as their first language, and moving to a province that also has French as a primary language, would make it one step easier to adjusting to a new life. This is  one of the main things that  attracted and caused such large numbers of immigrants from Haiti to travel through harsh conditions by foot where there is no border patrol, to live in Quebec. Hundreds of people were crossing the border every day, hoping that Canada would be a better home than America. People seeking asylum in Canada were promised free housing, healthcare, food, and education, making it an attractive destination for people in poverty. As a result Canada had to enforce immigration laws, so that they will not be overwhelmed by all the new people entering their country.

The Canadian military announced to make  a refugee camp that could house 500 people, and would be located in Quebec near the U.S. border, however immigrating to Canada is not as easy as it seems, since being in poverty does not exactly mean someone is a refugee, and these immigrants are now considered to be illegal, and are threatened to be arrested if they cross the border illegally. Now that immigration laws are becoming much more strict in America, this could result as an increasing problem for Canada.
